If you unzip the downloaded file, you should find a file named documentation (or instructions or installation) with extension pdf or txt.
What software have you downloaded? So I can double-check.

All our software comes with documentation and/or installation instructions.
You can find these in the downloaded (zip) package OR through links in the extension's description at the Joomla! back-end (manager screen). The documentation files are named 'manual', 'installation', 'documentation' or 'instructions'
