What is JHW Bot?

JHW stands for JHacker Watch, the name of a Joomla! website monitoring plug-in developed by Innato BV.

When installed and activated, the plug-in continuously monitors the website's Joomla! install and analyses whether critical user account details have been changed or directories and files have either been modified, added or are not part of a standard Joomla! install. It therefore provides an additional line of defense against website hacking attempts.

The JHacker Watch plug-in includes the optional Remote Monitoring service, to which your website administrator can subscribe, thus making our servers regularly check the subscribed website(s) and see whether the plug-in is functioning as expected. If this is not the case, the plug-in or the website may have been tampered with, for example by a malicious hacker, and an email notification is sent to the website administrator(s).

JHW Bot is the software, residing on our servers, that regularly visits websites that have subscribed to our Remote Monitoring service. It only checks the presence and integrity of the plug-in on these subscribed websites. By no means does it collect data about the directories and files on the website, nor any other data stored, e.g. user names, passwords, email addresses etc. and it does not use cookies. The setup of this software and the JHacker Watch plug-in does not require any log-in credentials to your website, because it will not access confidential data.
